What started the idea for EduCampLondon?

EduCampLondon was imagined in a coffee shop in London, during a planning meeting, with a few scribbles and rough drawings in February 2009.

It was Tim who proposed the idea of organise an un-conference under the name of EduCamp as he was familiar with the barcamp style of networking. Harold instinctively knew that an unconference would break the mould and seeing the potential suggested to calling it EduCampLondon.

This starting point enthused them to identify an organisation to host the un-conference and team-up with suitable sponsors.

Tim Bush and Harold Fricker collaborate across a number succesful initiatives promoting the adoption of learning technologies in HE.

They have no dobts as to the central role of Web2.0 technologies as collaboration and sharing tools to communicate with audiences and enhance the learner's experience.

From the start they imagined an event that would include student's participation.
