Filmcamp was mooted by Chris Gomez in early 2008, and opened it up for discussion with Vanessa Ching, Kelvin Quee & Preetam Rai.
This is the planning page for FilmCampSG - to take place sometime in the middle of 2009 (tentative). It may coincide with BarcampSG4. Testing!
The organizing team was put together in the following months
The handsome, fearless and exceptionally bright leader: Chris Gomez
The Argonauts: JiinJoo, Vanessa Ching, Preetam Rai, Kelvin Quee and Audrey Tang
Ze' Plan
Dear Friends,
I am envisioning FilmCamp Singapore 2009 conference to be made up of 3 very simply defined parts:
1. Seminar/Talks
- talks by industry professionals
2. Workshops
- workshops by industry professionals
- briefing for thematic short film shooting competition
3. Screenings
- screening of short films, documentaries, etc. from various old and new film sources (e.g. colleges, festivals, etc.)
- screening of thematic short films shot during the BarCampSG/FilmCampSG week or month
Please find below the FilmCamp Singapore 2009 preparation document for the organizing (and participants - to be added, soon).
Event details
When
At this stage I am targetting FilmCamp for last week of June 2009/first week of July 2009
Initial intention is to run FilmCamp parallel with BarCamp.
All thing go as planned, FilmCamp will run for 2 days.
Where
With the assumption that FilmCamp is ran parallel with BarCamp we could hold FilmCamp at Ngee Ann Polytechnic
Where to stay?
**Leaving this for Preetam or Kelvin to advise me**
Sponsors
We must engage technology-intensive and media-intensive sponsors.
Nature of the sponsor:
1. Highly technology-intensive
- one of the key goals of this camp is to facilitate basic filmmaking knowledge to the tech-community
- tech companies are a clearly necessary in the filmmaking industry
Examples (in alphabetical order):
Apple
Canon
EMI
Google
Mediacorp
Nokia
Sony Ericsson
Sony
Panasonic
Warner Music
Yahoo!
2. Highly media-intensive
- for these early discussions I would like to stay away from suggesting graphic design firms & advertising firms and the like.
Examples (in alphabetical order):
Apple
Canon
EMI
Google
Mediacorp
Nokia
Sony Ericsson
Sony
Panasonic
Warner Music
Yahoo!
Note: I've duplicated the list of sponsors above for both lists above. As there may be overlaps, this may be cleaned up further later.
