IM IN UR INTERNETZ, DECONZTRUCTIN UR GENDER!

WHAT?

GenderCamp is a 3-day workshop-event form May 7th till Mai 9th at the ABC Bildungs- und Tagungszentrum in Hüll near Hamburg. It's a BarCamp (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BarCamp)/openspace-style confernce about fields, intersections and interstices of gender/queer/feminism and internet/netculture. We're especially interested in questions of online queer-feminist agency and practice.

HOW?

GenderCamp is an open event for discussion, workshops, lectures and other forms of presentation and collaboration that are actively created by it's attendees. Everyone is invited to be an active participant, not mere audience. The program will be put together collectively at the GenderCamp from your ideas and interests: Lectures, hands-off discussion or hands-on workshops where things are made, soldered or programmed. Ideas can be gathered at http://gendercamp.mixxt.de or proposed at the Camp.

WHO?

We invite everyone interested in networking at the intersections of queer-/feminism and netculture: People that are home to both worlds, queer-feminist folks interested in gaining insight of netculture, netpeople who feel like digging into queer, feminism and gender. GenderCamp aims at networking, kicking of projects and giving those who know each other from queer/feminist online-communities, discussion boards, mailing-lists and the blogosphere the chance to meet in real life.

And everyone's like: Gender?

We consider a feminist perspective on society necessary to make visible, criticize and change structural discrimination of women and female persons as well as sexist structures. However, a feminist perspective alone is not enough to focus power-relations of the binary system of gender, where two binary genders are organized hierarchically and supposed to desire each other exclusively. Thus we draw upon "queer", a concept that claims a self-reflective involvement with heteronormative structures and their entanglement with other forms of discrimination. That is why GenderCamp has a queer-feminist focus. It's open for everyone (all genders welcome) who's set for dealing critically with -isms of all kind.
