Che cosa è un Barcamp
Per BarCamp s'intende un tipo di incontro caratterizzato dalla partecipazione attiva, senza una scaletta prefissata di relatori. L'obiettivo è quello di riunire persone e mettere in comune la conoscenza; il Barcamp è nato nella comunità di chi sviluppa applicazioni web o tecnologie simili ma il suo approccio "non-convegno" si sta diffondendo in altri ambiti.

Tutti i partecipanti devono di norma preparare una presentazione/discussione o in qualche modo partecipare all'organizzazione. Tutte le presentazioni e gli interventi avvengono il giorno del barcamp ma è buona educazione preparare prima una nota, un powerpoint, un video e pubblicarlo nel sito web del LivingLabCamp.
Non c'è un'agenda prefissata. Sono messe a disposizione un numero di aule proporzionale al numero di interventi prenotati. Il giorno stesso del BarCamp, coloro che si sono prenotati mettono un post-it con il titolo della presentazione in uno degli spazi liberi (divisi per aula e sessione). I partecipanti possono fare riferimento al tabellone per scegliere a quale sessione partecipare in una determinata fascia oraria.
Ciascun aula per le sessioni è dotata di un videoproiettore, una lavagna a fogli mobili e una rete WiFi ad accesso libero. Ogni presentatore ha a disposizione mezz'ora che può gestire come vuole, tenendo presente che l'enfasi è sull'interazione e che normalmente tra un intervento e l'altro ci vogliono 5 minuti circa per collegare computer, scegliere aule ecc. Ogni sessione avrà un rapporteur che fornirà una sintesi del dibattito in delle sessioni plenarie.
What is a Barcamp?
The term BarCamp refers to a particular type of meeting based on active participation, without a pre-determined agenda of speakers. The objective is to bring people together and share knowledge. The BarCamp is a method that originates in the community of web developers but its "non-conference" approach is being extended to other fields.
All participants are normally expected to prepare a presentation/debate or participate in some way in organizing the event. All presentations occur on the day of the event but it is good practice to upload a note, a powerpoint or a video to the BarCamp's website.
There is no fixed agenda. A number of meeting rooms is made available in proportion to the number of registered presentations for parallel sessions. The morning of the BarCamp, those who have registered to speak place a post-it with the name of their talk in one of the available slots (divided by session and meeting room). Other participants refer to this board to choose which session to participate in at any given time.
Each meeting room is equipped with a video projector, a flip chart and a free-access WiFi network. Every presenter has 30 minutes that can be used however he or she sees fit, considering however that the emphasis is on interaction and that it normally takes about 5 minutes to set up computers, change roomes, etc. Every session has a rapporteur who synthesizes the debate in one of the plenary sessions.
L'idea del LivingLabCamp
Questo di Palermo vuole essere la prima sperimentazione dell'idea di LivingLabCamp. L'idea è collegata al movimento dei Living Lab, un approccio emergente nella ricerca e sviluppo nelle tecnologie dell'informazione e della comunicazione, che si basa su un modello di User-Driven Innovation, ossia di innovazione guidata dall'utente. In sintesi, il Living Lab (LL) porta la ricerca fuori dal laboratorio e nelle dinamiche del mondo reale per fondere l'innovazione tecnologica con quella organizzativa e sociale, in un processo di co-creatività che coinvolge tutti i soggetti partecipanti - ricercatori, enti territoriali, PMI, associazioni, singoli cittadini.
Il LivingLabCamp coniuga l'obiettivo di conoscersi e divertirsi, condividere esperienze e conoscenze in pieno stile barcamp, con la necessità di fare emergere tutte le energie presenti in un territorio e di formare un partenariato permanente che si possa costituire come Living Lab per l'innovazione non solo al livello del singolo ma soprattutto della comunità come sistema sociale, economica, culturale: l'innovazione territoriale.
Il LivingLabCamp pone quindi la questione di governance della rete che si forma durante l'incontro come tematica comune, in parallelo rispetto agli interventi dei singoli. Uno specifico spazio sul sito web e specifiche sessioni plenarie offriranno quindi la possibilità di domandarsi: come trasformare le nostre competenze e le nostre idee in risorse condivise, come organizzare questa rete, come rendere permanente la nostra capacità di generare innovazione?
The LivingLabCamp idea
This Palermo event aims to be the first instance of an idea called LivingLabCamp. The idea is linked to the Living Lab movement, an approach emerging in information and communication technology R&D based on User-Driven Innovation. In synthesis, a Living Lab (LL) takes research out of the laboratory and into the dynamics of the real world, to blend technological with social and organisational innovation in a co-creative process that involves all participating actors: researcher, local authorities, SMEs, associations, individual citizens.
The LivingLabCamp idea combines the objectives of getting to know each other, sharing knowledge and experience, and having fun specific to the BarCamp concept, with the need to see the emergence of all the energies hidden in a territory and to construct a permanent partnership as a Living Lab producing innovation not only at the individual level but also for the community considered as a social, economical and cultural system: territorial innovation.
A LivingLabCamp therefore emphasizes governance of the network that takes form during the BarCamp itself as a common theme, running in parallel with respect to the single presentations. A specific area in the web site and targeted plenary sessions offer the opportunity to ask and discuss questions like: how can we transform our abilities and ideas into common resources, how can we organise this network, how can we transform our capacity to generate innovation into a permanent thing?
Il LivingLabCamp a Palermo
Il LivingLabCamp a Palermo è organizzato per il giorno precedente il Seminario Internazionale "La Co-creatività per l'innovazione territoriale". Questo seminario, sponsorizzato dalla Commissione Europea nell'Anno della Creatività e dell'Innovazione, vedrà la partecipazione di rappresentanti della Regione Siciliana che lo organizza all'interno del progetto MED "MedLab: Mediterranean Living Lab for Territorial Innovation", della Commissione Europea e del Governo Italiano, di alcuni dei principali Living Lab Europei compreso i 10 Living Lab già facenti parte della rete Europea ENoLL e di altre iniziative a rete come la European Enterprise Network, il progetto Kublai, ecc.
Uno degli obiettivi principali del Seminario è la costituzione di una rete Italiana dei Living Lab e il LivingLabCamp si inserice organicamente in questa strategia. Vuole infatti offrire un opportunità di scambio e di conoscenza tra soggetti attivi nella promozione dell'innovazione territoriale in Sicilia, Italia, Europa ed aprire l'idea della rete Italiana a tutte le energie innovative che si vorranno presentare. L'impostazione del LivingLabCamp vuole anche porre l'enfasi sulla questione di governance della rete, di modo che si possa dare una struttura operative e rimanere ugualmente aperti alle spinte innovative che provengono dai territori diversi.
The Palermo LivingLabCamp
The Palermo LivingLabCamp is organised the day preceding the International Seminar "Co-creativity for Territorial Innovation". This event, sponsored by the European Commission for the Year of Creativity and Innovation, brings together representatives of the Sicilian Region (organising the seminar within the MED project "MedLab: Mediterranean Living Lab for Territorial Innovation", of the European Commissione and the Italian Government, of some of the principal Living Labs in Europe including the 10 Living Labs members of the ENoLL network, and other networked initiatives such as the European Enterprise Network, the Kublai project, etc.
On of the main objectives of the Seminar is the constitution of an Italian Network of Living Labs, and the LivingLabCamp is an organic part of this strategy. It aims to offer an opportunity for exchange and meeting between those active in the promotion of territorial innovation in Sicily, Italy and Europe, and open the idea of the Italian network to all the innovative energies that wish to present themselves. The LivingLabCamp approach emphasizes the issue of network governance, so as to both develop an operational structure while remaining open to the innovative ideas coming from different territories.

Il messagio centrale del LivingLabCamp Palermo è "La co-creatività per l'innovazione territoriale". Sono quindi benvenuti interventi di tutti i tipi, per raccontare qualsiasi iniziativa di innovazione partecipata dai Living Lab che fanno parte alla rete Europea ENoLL ad un'iniziativa di uso di nuove tecnologie per lo sviluppo rurale. Presentazioni di servizi o applicazioni technologiche sono pertinenti soltanto in quanto o sono il frutto di un percorso di co-progettazione oppure possono contribuire allo sviluppo di nuovi processi di partecipazione, co-design, innovazione sociale e territoriale.
Per iscriversi, aggiungere il proprio nome con un link ad un sito web di riferimento in fondo alla lista "Chi partecipa"; per prenotare lo spazio per un intervento aggiungete il proprio nome anche alla lista "Chi presenta" con un'indicazione del titolo: l'intervento può essere in italiano o in inglese.
The central message of the Palermo LivingLabCamp is "Co-creativity for Territorial Innovation". Contributions of all types are therefore welcome, telling stories of any kind of participatory innovation process from Living Labs that formally belong to the ENoLL network to an initiative using new technologies for rural development. Presentations of technology applications and services are relevant only if they either are the fruit of a co-design development process or can contribute to the development of new forms of participation, co-design and social and territorial innovation.
To register, add your name with a link to a relevant web site at the end of the "Who's participating" list; to reserve a presentation slot add your name to the "Who's presenting" list as well, with an indicative title: your presentation can be in Italian or English.
