MinneDemo

[MinneDemo tagged photos: http://www.flickr.com/photos/tags/minnedemo/]

MinneDemo is the Twin Cities' own DemoCamp (follow link for FAQ/background), a miniature, demo driven, version of BarCamp.

MinneDemo is an opportunity to show off something novel you been working on to a receptive audience of fellow travellers. Previous DemoCamps (in other cities) have featured AJAX apps, disposable digital camera hardware hacks, mashups and OSS phone system demos. MinneDemo is thin on ground rules: just prepare in advance, get the word out and, oh, no PowerPoint.

We have a simple goal: to showcase the kick-ass software that's being built in Minnesota, whether it be open source, corporate, or academic.

This'll be the first of hopefully many MinneDemos. We'll have them quarterly, or maybe even monthly if there's enough interrest.

DateTuesday, September 5th
Time6:30pm for drinks, demos start at 7:00pm
LocationChiang Mai Thai, Uptown Minneapolis
AttendeesAll are welcome! Please sign your name on this page so we know how many people are coming.

Demo Schedule

We will have six 15-minute demos. They will truly be mini-demos. Sign up below (and see the next section) if you're interested and, of course, there's no fee or any BS associated with presenting.

Schedule:

  1. flyspy (Robert Metcalf)
  2. JRuby (Charles Oliver Nutter)
  3. SaySwap - media swapping and social networking startup (Jonathan Dahl)
  4. Deki and Dream -- Mono/.NET distributed application framework and sample application (Aaron Fulkerson -- MindTouch, OpenGarden.org)
  5. Feedseeder (Garrick Van Buren)
  6. Bookmark It! - (Brian 'Bex' Huff)

Wow, that filled up fast. Let's start a list for future MinneDemos. When signing up, please provide enough info so that we can get ahold of you to confirm that you're still interested for a future event:

  1. My weather project (Ben Tesch)
  2. Data_Pix (Jeff Beddow)

For presenters

Demos should have roughly a 2 minute introduction, 8 minute demonstration, and 5 minutes for questions. 15 minutes total.

Read WhatMakesAGreatDemo for tips on how to give an awesome demo.
