MinneDemo Holiday Edition

It's time for another MinneDemo! MinneDemo is the Minneapolis/St.Paul version of DemoCamp, where we showcase the most kick-ass software in town and have a few beers together.

This time around, we've arranged to have the Acadia Cafe, located on Nicollet Avenue in Minneapolis' "Eat Street" district, close their doors to the public and make both their stage/theater and the cafe/pub space available exclusively for MinneDemo attendees on the evening of Monday, December 11th.

The Acadia can accommodate a larger audience, provides us with separate spaces for presentations and networking, offers a nice menu and a really diverse set of beers all in a non-corporate setting. The place has soul, and lets us address the valid gripe last time 'round about not being able to hear the presenters over the chatter.

DateMonday, December 11th
Time6:30pm for drinks and food, demos start at 7:00pm
LocationAcadia Cafe, "Eat Street" Minneapolis
AttendeesAll are welcome! Please sign your name on this page so we know how many people are coming.

Demo Schedule

We will have seven 15-minute demos. Sign up below if you're interested and, of course, there's no fee or any BS associated with presenting. Also, email dan at unpossible dot com and look at recursion dot org so we know how to reach you. This is really important so that we can confirm that you're still in when we get closer to the event.

Schedule:

  1. Data_Pix (Jeff Beddow) -- Data_Pix is a self-descriptive data presentation method that allows visual interactive browsing of large complex datasets.
  2. Fetchster (Eric Caron) -- Fetchster is a locally-owned, nation-wide job board that spiders company websites for job openings (eliminating the middle man, such as CareerBuilder)
  3. imp (Dan Carroll) -- Through imp, users can legally discover, acquire and share songs, movies and more -- all of which is recommended to them by sources they trust.
  4. Doomtree Reactive Video Utility (Paul Wenzel & Justin Heideman) -- In real time, we manipulate motion graphics, video footage, and imagery for on-stage performance. Using Quartz Composer and Max/MSP, it is not Web 2.0.
  5. Mike O'Connor -- I was going to talk about the Corp.com 3rd-level domain registry. Now I want to talk about the design puzzle posed by Bar.com and other "geo" oriented domains like it.
  6. Co-Pilot (Eric Grumdahl) -- Co-Pilot helps housing and human service agencies end homelessness in Minnesota, by streamlining information management, simplifying accountability and providing feedback to policy-makers, funders and programs.

Have a project in the pipeline that you'd you'd like to present at the next MinneDemo, sign up below:

  1. Dan Grigsby's hush hush project
  2. Jumpnode (Jumpnode)
  3. Adaptive Avenue (Adaptive Avenue)
  4. Your name here?
