THE EVENT / L'EVENTO
On the 22nd at Rabuiese, Slovenia celebrates the official opening of its borders, with Barroso as guest of honour. Our idea is to anticipate this event with a party dedicated to all those who opened those borders much earlier – i.e. bloggers, online magazines and the virtual communities that have always been dealing with Euroregional topics.
MittelCamp is dedicated to them. In its layout alone, BarCamp stands as a perfect model for the crossing of borders between stage and audience, performers and spectators. The audience is active and constantly involved in the conversation.
On December 21st, from 4.30pm on, guests will speak in turn in a setting provided by the ETNOBLOG cultural association.
On December 21st, from 9.30pm on, we will move to Tetris Palace for a celebration, an out and out EuroParty, to dance the night away.

Discussion
ENRICO MARIA MILIč SAYS:
I suggest that MittelCamp follows 4 simple rules:
1) all the talks and papers, should be presented in English. Exceptions can be made ONLY for the few who feel really unable to talk in English...
2) all the talks and papers can not be longer than 10 minutes of presentation + 5 minutes for replies and answers, STRICTLY (not the Italian way!)
3) all the talks and papers should be prepared and crafted for being really FUNNY, creative and original: if MittelCamp is a party for the end of borders, then we have to create a really joyful atmosphere helpful for good and lasting liaisons and relationships among the participants
4) sequence of presentations is organised strictly alternating people from different geographical areas and genders male/female
ARLON STOK SAYS:
I agree with points 1-3 above. (n.4 might not be possible, but it would be preferrable)
If we want to keep the core of the event international (and I think we should!), English is the easiest way.
But all this is strictly related to the aims of the camp, so the organizers should have the last word on this fundamental issue.
ALBERTO MUCIGNAT SAYS:
Recently, as organizing an italian conference, we used the 10 minutes papers model and it worked well! I suggest the speakers to keep 5-6 slides at last and to use imagines and key phrases rather than loong time presentations full of text that nobody wants to read. We want to hear from you! :-)
Also, in our conference, someone did speak italian, but showing english slides. That worked well for our international guests and this is my suggestion for MittelCamp, too. People can speak their own language or english, but slides should be in english.
To organizers: keep time and push for discussions, that's really important.
My 2 cents.
