PUBLIC MEDIA CAMP - Facilitating the evolution of public broadcast media

We're hosting a BarCamp to provide a collaborative space that explores public media's relevance and vision for the future. This is a two day event designed as a solutions playground for public media innovation.

Who should attend?

Public Radio enthusiasts

Show Programmers/Content Producers

New Media Visioneers

Technologists

Radio and New Media Geeks

Arts and Cultural Leaders

Bloggers (current and future)

Business Model Innovators

What is it?

Day One is focused on bringing together public media professionals from around the country to explore solutions for the future viability and strength of public media. The open conference format will provide an arena to leverage the expertise of the participants and share the collective knowledge of the group to forward the evolution and sustainability of public media.

Day Two builds on the information gleaned from Day One and invites the local community to join the conversation. The goal will be to gain a richer understanding of how public media can better serve the needs of the community and how we can leverage current and emerging technologies.

Where?

October 24 – October 26 (tentative)

Santa Cruz, California

Why Santa Cruz?

Quiddities, a Santa Cruz CA web development firm, received a substantial grant from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation for their project RadioEngage. RadioEngage will provide a next generation open source solution for public radio stations. The platform will be developed by engineers at Quiddites for Santa Cruz local public radio station KUSP and made available for other public radio stations to implement.

KUSP serves the Central Coast of California and is excited to embrace new open source technologies to better serve its community. Santa Cruz hosts this event because it's where creativity, innovation and technology converge.
