History / Process

Following WikiSym2005 we agreed to convene a BarCamp-like event on wiki in Portland, Oregon, USA in February of 2006 to provide yet another great space for the wiki community -- and other collaborators of all kinds -- to gather for work and play! We use OpenSpaceTechnology more than TheRulesOfBarCamp, to give a little more framing and whole-group experience. The resulting synergy is palpable - coding, an improvised video at the first event (see below), creative games, energizing conversations about society & code, and connections among people that are still growing.

 

Since then, RecentChangesCamps have been held once or twice a year, so far in Portland, Montréal (RoCoCo) and Palo Alto. See http://recentchangescamp.org/ for links to all of the conference websites.
