What is Second Life?

Second Life is a 3-D virtual world entirely built and owned by its residents. Since opening to the public in 2003, it has grown explosively and today is inhabited by a total of 7,807,878 people from around the globe.

  • From the moment you enter the World you'll discover a vast digital continent, teeming with people, entertainment, experiences and opportunity. Once you've explored a bit, perhaps you'll find a perfect parcel of land to build your house or business.

  • You'll also be surrounded by the Creations of your fellow residents. Because residents retain the rights to their digital creations, they can buy, sell and trade with other residents.

  • The Marketplace currently supports millions of US dollars in monthly transactions. This commerce is handled with the in-world unit-of-trade, the Linden dollar, which can be converted to US dollars at several thriving online Linden Dollar exchanges.

Welcome to Second Life. We look forward to seeing you in-world.

BarCamp and SecondLife ?

Please join/organize SLCamps

  1. SecondLifeCampFrance aka BarCampParis13, a SLCamp in Paris (July 21st 2007)
  2. SecondLifeCampItaly (October 2007)

NamingConvention ?

Just changed SLCamp to SecondLifeCampFrance and SLcamp to SecondLifeCampItaly, because I just felt a bit confused to discover two meetings on the BarCamp homepage (SLCamp in paris... and SLcamp in Italy?... with nearly the same syntax. pbwiki made a real distinction between these syntax)

Let's consider that as a first suggestion. Still not sure, it's late here ;) IMHO real camelcase wikiwords seem more explicit in order to make future connexions and any network-2ndlife-weavering easier.

Just feel completely at ease to redirect as you feel it. SLCampFrance, SLCampItaly, etc. could be easily redirected to their respective titlepages in the futre. SLCamp feels nice. How could we be more explicit. Maybe it could be the opportunity to speak of an official NamingConvention which will help future SecondLifeCamp meetings/unconferences. Cheers, xtof (just wikifan and newbie in SL- Xtof Boucher ;)
