The Friday evening BBQ party at BarCampStanford begins at 6 pm at the Sand Volleyball picnic area on the Stanford campus. (Don't worry - it's not all sand!) Click here for a zoomable map to the barbecue. The following directions should be most optimal for rush hour traffic.

If taking public transportation...

• Take Caltrain or the Dumbarton Express (or Line U Stanford Express) westbound to the University Avenue/Palo Alto station. Catch the "B-Clockwise" free Marguerite Shuttle from the drive-up circle left of the station building (as you look at it from the tracks). Ask the driver to let you off at the Ford Center for Sports and Recreation. The barbecue is a short walk away in back of the Ford Center, adjacent to the Sand Volleyball courts (see map linked above). If not staying on campus, you may need to ask a fellow Barcamp attendee for a ride back to the train station, or you can walk (about 10 minutes).

If driving from the south bay...

• Take I-280 north to Page Mill Road. Head north on Page Mill toward El Camino Real. Turn left on El Camino, then left on Serra, right on Campus Drive (near the filling station), and left into the parking lot across the street from Maples Pavillion sports arena. The barbecue area is at the west end of the parking lot, near the Sand Volleyball Courts and the Ford Center for Sports and Recreation.

If driving from the peninsula/san francisco...

• Take I-280 south to Sand Hill Road. Head toward menlo park (away from the hills) to El Camino Real, just past the Stanford Shopping Center. Turn right on El Camino, then right on Palm Drive (the continuation of University Avenue). Follow Palm Drive until Campus Drive, and take a left. Turn right into the parking lot across the street from Maples Pavillion sports arena. The barbecue area is at the west end of the parking lot, near the Sand Volleyball Courts and the Ford Center for Sports and Recreation.

If driving from the east bay...

• From the northeast bay, take the San Mateo Bridge to I-280 and follow the directions for coming from the peninsula/san francisco.
• From the southeast bay, take 237 to El Camino in mountain view. Follow El Camino toward palo alto and turn left on Serra at the edge of the campus, right on Campus Drive (near the filling station), and left into the parking lot across the street from Maples Pavillion sports arena. The barbecue area is at the west end of the parking lot, near the Sand Volleyball Courts and the Ford Center for Sports and Recreation.
• From the fremont area, take the Dumbarton Bridge to University Avenue toward Stanford. Cross El Camino and follow what is now Palm Drive to Campus Drive, and take a left. Turn right into the parking lot across the street from Maples Pavillion sports arena. The barbecue area is at the west end of the parking lot, near the Sand Volleyball Courts and the Ford Center for Sports and Recreation.
