StartupCampWaterloo

DateOctober 23, 2007
Time6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Location Waterloo Accelerator Centre, 295 Hagey Blvd., Waterloo
Expected AttendanceAll are welcome!

A group has been created so please join to discuss BarCamps or DemoCamps in the region. Also there's a Facebook group too!

Agenda (The plan in a draft form)

StartupCampWaterloo borrows from DemoCamp except we have a *main speaker* and a couple set presentations from members of the community. The StartupDemo gives you a chance to get your idea out there and get feedback so you can strengthen your idea.

  1. Speaker: Funding - how it feels - Well.ca
  2. food (be social)
  3. StartupDemo-style presentations, round 1;br>Breakdown:
    1. who are you?
    2. what issues do you want help with e.g., market validation, business model, marketing, etc
    3. give us your 30s to 5 minute pitch (depending on how many people we have signed up for this part of session)
    4. audience participation in answers
  4. break (start talking to people)
  5. AideRSS - launching
  6. break (some more socializing)
  7. StartupDemo-style presentations, round 2
  8. Keynote speaker: Albert Lai -- arriving late from the west coast.

Last minute changes due to travel schedules!!!

Over the evening experts in certain topic areas will be identified, the idea is to use the break time to have small group discussions.

Demos (list will make up the StartupDemo presentations)

  1. Michael Fagan: if most people haven't seen Rajat's demo of Zimride, I will do a brief demo on his behalf
  2. Albert O'Connor: Purple: Centralizing and integrating event information for fun and profit.
  3. Avery Pennarun: one of: what to do and not do with financing; things I screwed up starting my last company; The Innovator's Dilemma and how to take advantage of it; Crossing the Chasm and how to do market segmentation; tricks for hiring people.
  4. William Spaetzel: CastRoller: Centralized, easy podcast subscriptions
  5. Simon Clark: Village Toolbox

Please add what you would like to see at StartupCampWaterloo that isn't listed above.

(Part of the WatCamp community. The previous BarCampWaterloo was BarCampWaterloo_September06, BarCampWaterloo_December06, BarCampWaterloo_March07 and BarCampWaterloo_May07.)
