Le TouchCampParis1 se déroulera à La Cantine par silicon sentier, passage des Panoramas, métro Grands Boulevards, Paris 2ème. Il démarrera le 21 mars à 11h00 et se terminera vers 20h. Le 22 mars le TouchCamp se poursuivra par des ateliers, entre 10h et 19h.
The TouchCampParis1 will take place at La Cantine, passage des Panoramas, métro Grands Boulevards, Paris 2ème. It will start on March, the 21rst at 11am until 8pm. The 22nd, a workshop will take place at La Cantine, from 10am.

Qu'est-ce que le TouchCamp et pourquoi un TouchCamp ?

L'interaction gestuelle avec des données et des applications numériques multiples pourrait remplacer le clavier et la souris. En effet, la manipulation directe de contenu sur l'écran - interface transparente - supprime la barrière physique du clavier et de la souris. Nos mains interagissent directement avec le système. La relation avec le monde digital devient tangible. Nous entrons dans l’ère du geste interactif.
L'émergence de l'interface multi-tactile bouleverse les schémas d'interaction classique. Au delà de l’outil, interface matérielle en phase d’industrialisation et dont les données techniques de fabrication DIY sont largement disponibles et économiquement abordables, le défi réside dans l’implémentation de contenu dédié; la conception d’applications qui révèleront le potentiel de cette technologie.
Le TUI (Touch User Interaction) parfois nommé avec enthousiasme Natural User Interface ouvre une nouvelle voie. Une interaction avec l’ordinateur de manière intuitive par le toucher, une interaction collaborative, multi-utilisateurs, autour d’une table, d’un sol, d’un mur multitouch . Un nouveau paradygme est entre nos mains.
Nous proposons ce Touch Camp pour présenter et évaluer les applications existantes, les solutions logicielles actuelles, les environnements de programmation et autres frameworks multitouch disponibles.
Nous souhaitons que ce TouchCamp soit un point de rencontre des acteurs de l’interaction TUI pour l’élaboration collaborative de contenus multitouch. ( chercheurs, codeurs, designers, développeurs, coders, artistes intéractifs, ..... )
Suite à ce TouchCamp, deux tables multitouch (FTIR) seront disponibles en accès libre pour le développement d’applications ; l’une à la Cantine ; l’autre au Centre de Ressources Art Sensitif (CRAS. D’autres réunions et ateliers seront réalisés en 2009 en France et en Europe .

What is & why a TouchCamp?
TouchCamp : "European Multitouch Meeting"

Multi-touch screens allow us to interact with digital content through touch, alone or simultaneously with others.
Key words: Multi-touch, Interactive, Tactile, Gestures, Content, Collaborative
Gesture based interaction with data and digital applications could well replace the keyboard and mouse. Indeed, direct manipulation of content on a screen – transparent interface – erases the physical barrier of keyboard and mouse. Our hands interact directly with the system. We are entering the era of the interactive gesture.
The emergence of the multi-tactile interface and its rapid expansion has profoundly changed the established interaction standards. Beyond the tool, the material interface is in the industrial phase and the fabrication techniques (DIY) are widely available and affordable, the challenge resides in the implementation of dedicated content; the conception of applications that will reveal the true potential of this technology. Bringing the depths to the surface.
The TUI (Touch User Interaction), often enthusiastically called Natural User Interface, clears a new path. An intuitive, touch based interaction with the computer: a collaborative, multi-user interaction around a table, a floor, a multi-touch wall. A new paradigm is at the tip of our fingers.
We are proposing this Touch Camp to present and evaluate existing applications, software solutions, programming environments and the various multitouch frameworks available.
We hope this Touch Camp will be a fruitful meeting of the makers and shakers in TUI interaction for the elaboration of collaborative multitouch content.
Following this TouchCamp, two FTIR multitouch tables will be available in Paris with free access for application conception and development: one at the Cantine, another one at the CRAS, a human machine interface lab at the Main d’Oeuvres cultural centre.
To keep in “touch” further workshops will be held in 2009 in France and Europe.

<<< A NOTER >>> : Pour des raisons de sécurité, le nombre maximum de personnes pouvant être présentes en même temps dans les locaux de La Cantine est limité à 150, mais n'hésitez pas à vous inscrire jusqu'à 200 : on sait par expérience qu'entre les "no-show" et les campers arrivant tard ou partant tôt personne ne restera à la porte ! De plus le nombre de présents sera réactulisé "en live" sur ce site toutes les 15 minutes.
<<< PLEASE NOTE >>>: For security matters the space is limited to 150 people, but don't hesitate to register until 200: we know that there will be some no-show and that some campers will arrive late or quite early, so your sure to have a place. Furtermore, we will update "live" the number of places available with refreshing this page every 15 minutes during the barcamp.
