Brain Hack Sessions to keep the Ideasas Merry and well-Lit as the festive season
Sessions over the holiday season for small groups (3-6) people to get together and mull over ideas. Can be but don't have to be lunch sessions.
The idea is just to get a mix of different types of people together, identify needs, think about requirements, be creative and think about teaming up to seed new ventures.
Small Business people, Marketing, Technology, Beer drinkers, food eaters.
Get your festive thinking- (Christmas, Hanukkah, Solstice, beer-celebrating etc) - hat out.
- Lunchtimes are good, breakfasts are good, evenings are good. Just say your availability.
As Wikipedia puts it:
Smaller, tighter (social) networks can be less useful to their members than networks with
lots of loose connections (weak ties) to individuals outside the main network.
More "open" networks, with many weak ties and social connections, are more
likely to introduce new ideas and opportunities to their members than closed
networks with many redundant ties. In other words, a group of friends who only
do things with each other already share the same knowledge and opportunities. A
group of individuals with connections to other social worlds is likely to have
access to a wider range of information.

Game for meeting up? - add your name and availability here
- Martin Cleaver - 18-23 December, 26-31 Dec.
- Matthew Burpee - 18-23 December
- RohanJayasekera - almost any non-morning times except Dec. 18-19.
BTW, for a Yule event I highly recommend watching "Allison Crowe: Tidings" on A-Channel (cable channel 20) on Wed. Dec. 20, 8-9pm. Songs in the spirit of the season (both Christmas- and non-) sung by an incredible Canadian singer-songwriter (if you haven't heard of her, it's only because she turned down a major-label recording contract, preferring to maintain independence - which is why I get to be her roadie when she performs in Southern Ontario). As I recall, she doesn't include much of her own material here and mostly covers songs written by others including a hymn or two, Joni Mitchell, the Beatles, and Leonard Cohen. Don't take my word for it: Martin Levin, books editor of the Globe and Mail who is also a music aficionado, has this praise (last 3 paragraphs) for the Tidings CD which has much the same content as the TV special.
- JayGoldman - Radiant Core, Inc - 26-31 Dec., pretty much anytime. Have a few floating things to take care of.
