Barcamp is a gathering of people interested in startups, technology, education, media, travel, popular culture etc. It is always fun. We share what we are working on, interesting things we have discovered etc. If this is your first barcamp, please check out  the visual guide to barcamps.

When and where

The likely date is Saturday March 27 2010. We will confirm the date and venue by 15 February 2010.

Joining us from abroad. We have this page with information on flights, visas and guesthouses in Singapore.

 

Afterparty at Hackerspace.SG

After the main event ends, Hackerspace.SG will proudly host the afterparty at their new digs at 70A Bussorah Street.

9 AM: Venue opens, those wanting to present will post their topics on the topic-board

9.30 AM: Introductions, barcamp how-tos 

10.00 to 10.30 AM:  Break and voting for morning topics

10.30 AM to 12.30PM:  Multiple sessions in multiple rooms 

12.30 to 1PM: Lunch and voting for afternoon topics

1PM to 3PM:  Multiple sessions in multiple rooms

3 to 3.30 PM Tea break

3.30 PM to 5.30 PM: Multiple sessions in multiple rooms 

5.45 PM: Barcamp closing

6.45 PM: Barcamp afterparty at Hackerspace.sg.

 

Notes for those presenting

Technically you have only 25 minutes, as we need 5 minutes for people to exit and enter. If you are showing PowerPoint, try to keep it short - say 10 or 15 minutes and spend more time on discussions, Q&A. If you have some pictures, say a case study that features your customers, and you don't want these blogged, please caution the audience before you start the presentation. Post your presentations on Slideshare.net with the tag barcampsg5

 

Note for those attending sessions

Barcamps have something called the "Law of Two Feet"  If you don't find  the discussion in your room interesting, move on to another room. We will have about 200 people from Singapore and abroad joining us,  we wanted to accommodate as many as we could, there might only be standing room in some of the rooms.
