What is a Barcamp?
Barcamp is a gathering of people interested in startups, technology, education, media, travel, popular culture etc. It is always so much fun. We share what we are working on and make new friends. If this is your first barcamp, please check out the visual guide to barcamps. We will have multiple rooms for people to run discussions and presentations. Come early in the day to post your topic on the topic wall if you want to lead a session. Each session will run for 30 minutes. We will also run lighting talks - every presenter gets 5 minutes to do a mini-presentation. The previous barcamps in Singapore were hosted by the Infocomm Development Auhtority (IDA) and Ngee Ann Polytechnic.

When and where

Venue: Singapore Polytechnic (next to Dover MRT - 20 minutes train ride from City Hall). We will post the exact location within Singapore poly soon.
Joining us from abroad? We have this page with information on flights, visas and guesthouses in Singapore.
Schedule
9 AM: Venue opens, those presenting will post their topics on the topic-board
9.30 AM: Introductions, barcamp how-tos
10AM to 1PM: Multiple sessions in multiple rooms
1PM to 2 PM: Lunch
3PM to 6PM: Multiple sessions in multiple rooms
7 PM: Barcamp afterparty at Hackerspace.sg.
Notes for those presenting or leading a discussion
Technically you have only 25 minutes, as we need 5 minutes for people to exit and enter. Keep your presentations short - say 10 or 15 minutes and spend more time on discussions, Q&A. Post your presentations on Slideshare.net with the tag barcampsg5. If you are running a longer session, a hack session, book two simultaneous slots.
Note for those attending sessions
Barcamps have something called the "Law of Two Feet". Move on to another room if you don't find a particular discussion interesting. We will have about 200 people from Singapore and abroad joining us. We will try to accommodate as many as we can but expect only standing room for popular presentations.
Afterparty at Hackerspace.SG

After the main event ends, Hackerspace.SG will host the afterparty at 70A Bussorah Street. It will take you around 25 minutes to get to Hackerspaces.sg (Bugis MRT) from the barcamp venue (Singapore Poly at Dover MRT)
